Challenge Accepted
Full Home Renovation of Historic house
Taking on the Hesson Farm House renovation was a considerable challenge, given its location in a small town far from most resources. Russo Home Renovations stepped in after the homeowners had cleared the interior, leaving only the old stairs and structural framework.
This project involved a comprehensive renovation with numerous hurdles, but Russo Home Renovations successfully adhered to the schedule and delivered a home that will serve the family well for years to come.
The renovation began with a meticulous check of the framing to ensure it was level and square, setting a solid foundation for the new layouts. While the interior design choices were being finalized, significant work was needed on the home’s exterior. The walls required leveling to prepare for new siding, ensuring a clean, polished look.
A notable feature of the renovation is the updated front of the house, which now boasts a new roofline and an inviting front porch—perfect for enjoying a morning coffee. The back of the house presented its own set of challenges, especially with the removal of an old addition. Once the area was properly leveled, shimmed, and covered, the new siding installation, including an accent of composite cedar shingles, added a refined touch.
Updating the Interior
The interior of the Hesson Farm House was designed with a blend of authenticity and modern flair. The homeowner selected colors and finishes with guidance from Kitchen Appeal, ensuring that the cabinetry and hardware complemented the overall aesthetic. The flooring and tile work enhance the farmhouse’s country charm while incorporating contemporary elements.
Mechanical systems were entirely reworked from scratch. The renovation included the installation of heated floors, a new hybrid heat pump furnace, complete electrical services with backup power, and a full plumbing overhaul with sump pumps to address the area’s wet conditions. These upgrades ensure the home is well-prepared for another century of service.
Working in the countryside presented its own set of challenges, but there were also perks. Nearby establishments like Country Sisters and Anna Maes provided hearty, authentic country meals that were a satisfying reward after long days of hard work.
Despite the complexity of renovating a historic home, the end result is a testament to the dedication and skill of Russo Home Renovations. The Hesson Farm House stands as a proud example of preserving historical charm while embracing modern conveniences, ready to welcome a new chapter of family life.
